Spring is finally here!!! Which means that I can finally start designing some lacy and breezy garments once more! I was having designers block for a few months, but i’m finally at the point where I am feeling inspired and motivated again!
Now i’m normally not one to make a Shawl, however, I have been watching a LOT of When Calls The Heart and they have the prettiest shawls (and clothing in general) and i finally was inspired to make one!

Well it is that time of the year guys! I am a huge lover of the Holiday season (which to me is actually Halloween to New Years) but Christmas has a special kind of feeling that comes with it that is hard to find during the rest of the year. Pretty much everything about this season feels super cozy and comfortable, with the exception of the sun setting at 4pm, seriously not a fan of that nonsense. Although I love the Fall season just as much, the transition from Summer to Fall always tends to get me a little down, so it is always nice to have the cheer of the Holidays to lift me out of my slump. With that uplift of spirit usually comes new inspiration for designs! I have been having a hard time finding creative motivation these past few months and this is one of the first designs in a while that actually came easy to me and it is called The Wrap Me Up Dress!
The Triple Threat Dress Feature and Pattern
It has been so hard to keep this a secret, but I can finally share that I have been working on another pattern that is being featured HERE on The Hook Nook blog!

Although I grew up in LA, I have never really been a summer person for some reason. I think it’s because I do not do well in the heat, in fact I don’t do well in almost any temperature, i’m always either too cold or too hot. However, recently I have been trying to warm up to the idea of summer (see what I did there?). Honestly it is probably because of the fashion aspect of it, I’m trying to learn how to dress according to season, which is kind of difficult sometimes especially when it comes to summer.
There is so much to take into consideration when it comes to summer, you can be melting and you still aren’t allowed to walk around topless like guys can. You need to find the fine line between not dying and not being too revealing, because you know heaven forbid people see a human body and get all judgmental and offended.
Personally I find it hard to feel fashionable in a tank top and shorts, some people can make it look amazing, but I am not one of those people haha, thus the Jasmine Bralette came to life! I wanted to make something breezy, a little longer than just a normal bralette, and I wanted it to be cute! So let’s dive into the pattern!
The Wilderness Explorer Sweater Crochet Pattern
Well guys it is finally that time, Fall is approaching! It is almost time for camp fires, cozy sweaters, rainy movies nights ( which always has to include a blanket fort of course), and hot chocolate! Now, I have done plenty of design that are Disney inspired, but I have never really done one that is super overtly Disney themed, with that being said I bring you The Wilderness Explorer Sweater! If you don’t immediately spot why this is Disney related, it is based on Russel’s Boy Scout Troop in the movie UP. I thought what better way to get into the Fall spirit than with a cozy sweater inspired by a movie about finding adventure in the great outdoors! This sweater is super easy to make and works up really fast so you can be cozy in record time!

The Lemon Drop Apron Crochet Pattern
As you may or may not know, my day job is being an assistant manager at an Italian Restaurant, which is interesting for a lot of reasons, but also not what I want to do for the rest of my life for a lot of reasons. By the end of this post, the fact that I work in a restaurant will be relevant to the pattern, but for now my actual intention of bringing it up is not so direct. Working in a restaurant, you are very aware of annual events. For example, you learn not to work on Mothers Day because it will be the most crowded and dramatic day of the year, and you learn not to work Super Bowl Sunday because there will not be a single person in the restaurant, but you will have a bunch of guys ordering large quantities on pizza and only tip depending on how their team is doing. Moving this along to the point haha, we are currently in Graduation season which has led me to be wildly aware of the fact that I graduated high school a whopping 7 years ago. SEVEN YEARS. SO much has changed in the past seven years, my life is almost completely different than it was 7 years ago, and one thing that is incredibly different is my fashion sense. Things have a come a long way from have absolutely zero interest/competence where fashion in involved. I think by the last few months of senior year I was finally considering wearing dresses without jeans underneath, but I had not yet accomplished this. Once I started college I started taking it more seriously and I’m not going to even try to lie, it was partially because I was taking trying to get a boyfriend more seriously haha. Fast forward 3 years, I finally accomplished finding a boyfriend and suddenly I realized that what I chose to wear felt like it was now just for me and not to impress anyone. This shift in mentality really changed the whole idea of fashion for me, which is probably what lead to this entire crochet clothing adventure.
The Harper Cardigan Crochet Pattern
You know that game where someone says a word and you say the first thing that comes to mind and that cycle just kind of continues? I feel like that is how I name my designs haha. It is no secret that a lot of my designs have some kind of Disney related influence and this one is no exception. While all of my designs so far have been inspired by different Disney characters, I attempted to have this design be inspired by a Disney Landmark rather than a person. I have always felt this desire to translate landscapes and environments into a piece of clothing, which has proven to be a very challenging concept to explain and execute, but I figured what better place to start than a place that is very significant to my life, Disneyland.
The Ariel Top Crochet Pattern
I had been wanting to make an off the shoulder top for some time but never quite got around to it till now. In fact making this top wasn’t even my first idea originally. I came up with a design that needed a lot of yarn in a lot of different colors, all of which I ordered, only to discover that the design might have been too ambitious. In general, I really don’t like giving up on things, but I am also trying to work on admitting when I am tackling a project that I’m not ready for yet and my original idea was definitely one of those projects. So there I was with a mountain of yarn and no idea what to use it for (not that that isn’t a constant state of life for us fiber artists). Then I remembered my long lost Off The Shoulder concept! Once I had finished it, it somehow made me think of Ariel from the little mermaid, this is probably due to the fact that I love Disney and will always manage to bring everything back to it haha, therefore it earned the name The Ariel Top!
